any amount will help us fight racism.

Education Coalition for Asian American Representation (ECAAR) is a club dedicated to guaranteeing the teaching of Asian American history in the school curriculum, and to building a community of students, parents, and educators that lift each other up to achieve lofty goals. This is important because most racism comes from Eurocentric education, ethnic studies benefits everyone, even White students, and no one can make this major change alone. To achieve our goals, we are putting on low-cost or free classes about Asian American culture and history, creating visual Instagram infographics to help everyday people better understand news that affects Asian Americans, and writing curriculum and compiling resources to make teachers’ additions of Asian American history easier. In the future, we hope to work with state legislators to educate everyone, help promote other clubs at MIHS and Asian American-owned organizations or businesses in the Puget Sound area, create a support group for students of color at Mercer Island, and have some guest speakers talk to our students about careers and their experiences. Students in ECAAR get the experience of not just being in a supportive community, but also affecting real change that will help real people. Any donation is greatly appreciated and will likely be used for advertising, keeping classes cheap, paying guest speakers, or anything mentioned above.

Thank you for joining the fight against racism.
